Real estate developer Shang Properties has tapped the retail electricity arm of local conglomerate Ayala Group’s ACEN Corp (PSE:ACEN) to secure clean power for the St Francis Shangri-La Place, a luxury residential development in Mandaluyong City, Philippines.

Under the agreed partnership, the building will be powered with 100% renewable energy sourced from ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions’ (ACEN RES) portfolio of solar, wind and geothermal power plants.

The St Francis Shangri-La Place is described as one of the tallest residential towers in the district known as the Ortigas Business Center. Shifting to renewable energy will cut its emissions by around 2,200 tonnes of CO2 equivalents annually.

ACEN highlighted in the statement that the increasing adoption of renewable energy in the country is facilitated by the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), a government initiative that allows electricity consumers to shift to renewable energy and choose their supplier.
